Church of St. John the Baptist

Originally a medieval church, it stood on the terrace of the slope above the Jánský Bridge and was demolished in 1852. Between 1854 and 1857, a smaller cemetery church was built in its place in the pseudo-Romanesque style according to the project of the Loket builder F. Schidl. After the closure of the adjacent cemetery in 1877, the church lost its use. For some time, it was used by the students of the Loket grammar school to teach religion. In the mid-twenties of the 20th century, when the building was already dilapidated, it was handed over to the Evangelical Church for use. Its interior was modified according to the plans of the Sokolov architect H. Scherrer. In 1973 the church was demolished. In the church there was a painted antependium by Elijah Dollhopf (1703–1773), which is now exhibited in the castle.
